A local license is installed on the module directly using cplic put and should be licensed to an IP that is associated with a physcal interface.

A centrally management license is installed on the management server using the Management IP.
The license is then pushed to the relevant gateway via SIC, thus "installing" it there.
You will see the centrally licensed licenses on the gateway with cplic print.

If that doesn't answer your question, please describe precisely what you mean by "installed."

Hello all,

If I have a Central license for a Security Gateway, is that license installed on the Security Gateway?

If I have a Loca license for a Security Gateway, is that license installed on the Security Gateway?

Thanks in advance for your response!

In summary central license is applied via SmartConsole and references the Management server IP.

Local license is applied via CLI or GAIA web UI and references the local machines IP address.

Refer also sk62685.

Chris, thanks for responding to my query.

I very much appreciate the information that you did provide. However,
I'm not seeing that your response addresses a keyword in my query: Installed

Does it make sense for me to use this term, "Installed", in my query?

Thanks Chris

If you're asking if you should install policy to the gateway after license operations it is advisable to do so yes.

Thanks PhoneBoy for your response!

You did answer my question. The moment I was able to read "...the license is installed on ...", I was
in great shape!!!! I do, however, appreciate the additional information you provided.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'm at the kindergarten level with Check Point!!! Still
learning how to perform single-digit addition. Not even nearly ready for Trigonometry 🙂 The great
news is that I will get there!!!! It's a marathon for me - slow and steady is my mantra!!!

Thanks again!!!
