Hello Team

We are considering migrating policies from the test SMS to the production SMS using the procedure in SK180923(

How to migrate a policy package between Security Management servers (checkpoint.com)). If there are objects with the same name in both the test SMS and the production SMS, will the objects in the production SMS be overwritten?"

I want to avoid affecting the production environment if possible. Could you please provide some best practices for policy migration?

There’s a flag on the command to skip objects with the same name.
Even so, I think it will simply import the object with a different name.

I would use migrate_server, but then, that would overwrite what you currently have, so if its not an issue, thats what I would do.

This process does NOT change existing ip/hostname, but does "transfer" the licence.
