I'm looking for advice on optimizing Check Point firewall performance for a medium-sized network. What are the best practices for configuration and resource management to ensure maximum efficiency and security? Also, are there any common pitfalls I should avoid?

First of all, make sure you're on the latest release: R81.20.
Much of the tuning required for optimal performance is now automatic.
Beyond that, it truly depends on the exact requirements the customer has.
I would have a detailed discussion with your local Check Point SE.
