Advice on impact for not upgrading Checkpoint IPS version

Hi All,

What is the impact for not upgrading Checkpoint IPS version

Will it affect SW functionality?

Current Checkpoint IPS version 635158746.

Firmware/Software Version: 7.1.2.

Not upgrading software / firmware version means you aren't getting bug fixes and new features.

Not updating IPS version means you aren't getting protection against new vulnerabilities or optimization of existing protections.

Both of these mean your security effectiveness is reduced compared to what it could be.

And if you're only looking at IPS functionality, you're missing a good chunk of the threats!

I think @Chris_Atkinson summed it up perfectly! Put it this way...as far as software, lots of customers dont have ability to upgrade as often as they would like (due to various reasons), but for IPS, I would say its a must.
