Additional gateway in existing environment

We wanted to add an additional gateway. how can we sync all the policies and changes in the existing gateway to the new one?

Are you replacing previous hardware with new or are you attempting to make a cluster from two identical machines or something else entirely?

we are replacing a failed hardware.

The policies are stored in the management for those gateways that are centrally managed.

This means basic appliance build, restoring of backup / snapshot, confirming connectivity to the management and install policy at a high level.

The exact process will vary depending on the specific of the old & new hardware and if it's part of a cluster or not etc.

So can we use a backup from one gateway to the other?

Backup does not have any of the binaries, only the configuration files for both OS and products. That means, you can only use backup on another appliance under two conditions:

1. The new appliance has the identical HW as the old one.
2. It is pre-installed with exactly the same software version, including the major and minor versions, HFAs, and private fixes.

In the case of the RMA, you can use Central Deployment Tool in RMA mode to simplify the new GW deployment
