I read through sk173903, but could not find what improvements where done in R81.20 regarding syslog. Is it possible in R81.20 to use IPv6 addresses and/or FQDN in the syslog config as well?

For Log Exporter (exporting logs from Management) you absolutely can.

For GAiA OS level logging historically you couldn't but I believe this will be possible in R81.20 (try the public EA in the lab if you wish to confirm).

No - look at the configuration, IPv4 only, no FQDN. CLI:

add syslog log-remote-address <IPv4 Address> level <Severity>
