Can anyone tell me which part of the command output shows when was the last failover and the reason for the failover(gateway is running on R77.30)-

I believe we added that to a future version, but you’d have to look at /var/log/messages otherwise.

Does it show anywhere the reason why it happened or do I have to do a /var/log/messages to see the reason?

You have to look at /var/log/messages.
Like I said: believe we added this to a more recent version (R80.40, I think).
