Upgrade OS from R80.30 to R81

Hi All ,

In My network Checkpoint MGMT We are using As Virtual VM (Vmware).

For Checkpoint Gateways we have 3k and 5k series models .

we will do this activity In phase wise - In Phase 1 i will do up gradation of MGMT , Phase 2 will do up gradation of gateway .

we know process how to do upgrade but i need expert advise from your side .

we just wanted to know what precautions i need to take before Checkpoint OS Ugpradation .

WE are using All Blades , Mobile access , IPS , URL Filter , APP Control and antivirus and Anti bot etc.

Topology is Hub and Spoke

Also need to know rollback plan as well .

sk95746 provides some guidelines around release adoption / terminology.

Preparation is important, will you have Console or LOM access to the Gateways during the upgrade, are they clusters?

For any Mgmt upgrade I like to ensure that I have multiple different recovery points available and stored off box...

- migrate export

- GAIA snapshot

- GAIA backup

- Vmware Snapshot

I have successfully upgrade R81 in MGMT and For Some of Branch Gateways .
