How to recover the HDD if its been encrypted (No Data Needed)

Hey All,

I was wondering is there a way to recover the drive so it can be reused after it was encrypted with CP Endpoint Encryption ?

The data isn't needed, We just need to reuse the hardware.

Doesn't allow for it to be formatted.

Keeps saying Task cannot be completed.

I've tried normal windows Device manager and Partition Magic. also tried on an Linux machine

That's odd. Try deleting all partitions on the drive and re-partition it again, before formating

when trying to lean the disk with power shell it gives this :

DISKPART> clean

DiskPart has encountered an error: Incorrect function.
See the System Event Log for more information.

But so far nothing seems to be able to wipe it .

Could it be that the drive is damaged? Is it functional when used with encryption, such as, does it show a pre-boot message when you are trying to boot from it?

Try CLEAN command:

DISKPART > Select Disk > Select Partition > CLEAN

I would start with hidden partitions

Here is another suggestion from one of the forums:

Press SHIFT-F10 or hit 'repair' in from the Windows installation to open up the command line, then execute the diskpart command and delete the partition, e.g.: list disk, select disk 0 or any other identifying the correct disk, list partition, select partition 1, or the encrypted one , in case there are multiple partitions, then delete partition override.

You can then resume the install procedure normally to repartition and format the drive.

DISKPART> select partition 4

Partition 4 is now the selected partition.

DISKPART> delete partition override

DiskPart has encountered an error: Incorrect function.

Sorry, yes went into the repair mode now.

It is running a format on the disk but going really slowly , Im sure it will fail.

If is still doesn't work, look for a tool which can send the "secure erase" command to the drive. On most SSDs, this flushes the drive controller's cryptographic key and block table and generates new ones. On all SSDs, it should also run all the flash chips at high voltage briefly which flushes the data in all the flash cells. parted magic can do this.

DISKPART "clean all" should do just that, but it was failing, as far as I understand. Let's see if it can do the job from in the repair mode.

I found a lot of conflicting information about diskpart clean and diskpart clean all. Several sources say to expect it to take an hour per 300 GB. An ATA or NVMe secure erase command should take under ten seconds to wipe a whole SSD of any size.

Just an update on this : using Parted Magic didn't work I tried all options .
