Have tried to upgrade through CPUSE. Verified the legacy database, downloaded the r80.20 image and then the upgrade ended with status of R80.20 installed with a message that the deployment agent is not running. CPUSE actions are disabled.

Any suggestion?

MDS Migration from R80.10 to R80.20

Hello guys,

I’m doing a migration of an MDS from r80.10 to R80.20 with 2 CMAs.

What is the best approach?

Hi Igumah,

In such case, it's worth to consider Linux kernel upgrade (2.6 to 3.10) to enjoy all benefits it offers.

When you perform a Clean Install, or Advanced Upgrade to R80.20, it uses the xfs file system. After an in-place upgrade, the file system remains ext3 except for Smart-1 525, 5050, 5150 appliances, which use the xfs file system.

Therefore recommended way is advanced upgrade (Clean Install of R80.20 MDS than import of current DB).

Wait, there's no upgrade option to get to the new kernel and you have to do a clean install to get there? That's no good.

@IGUMAH_OSAZUWA_What ever you do, take a lot of backups. If you can, stand up another 80.10 environment, load your backup to validate it works and upgrade that environment to 80.20 first as sort of a dry run.

The file system will stay ext3 though if inplace upgrade is performed. Advanced upgrade (clean install and then import of DB) will have the filesystem upgraded as well.
