Threat Emulation Appliance TE daemon did not respond or not running

Hi all,

i was setting up the TE appliance in the lab environment and everything are freshly installed.

However, after i enabled the Threat Emulation blade for the Appliance through Security Management Server.

i got error from the alert tab in smart console showing "Threat Emulation Error: Unknown" and when i login to the appliance and attempt to run "tecli" it showed:

>tecli

daemon did not respond or not running!

error: timeout reached

Also, i cant see the following error in $FWDIR/log/tecli.elg

[TE (TD::All)] te::AttributeReader::AttributeObjectHandlerString::FetchAttribute: Failed to read attribute data, can't find value for attribute: mail_archive_prohibited_file_types in attributes object, this might indicate that this attribute was not set yet

Can someone advise me what is the next step for trouble shooting?

Do you have the access and threat prevention policies installed that enable the TE blade? You will also need to give it some time to download and prepare the emulation images required to operate.

Hi emmap,

i have already diactivated and activated those blades servals time and it did not help at all. Also, i have tried to install the threat prevention policy to the appliance, and it failed with the following error

I know we need to wait for the TE image download, but it should be abnormal for the Threat Emulation daemon not even running...
