We have upgraded our main backup 5000 Applicance Firewall From Gaia R80.20 to R80.40 and then on to R82 Kernel 4.18.0-372.9.1cpx86_64.

We are experiencing issues at both levels of upgrade, with two persistent errors, which are: Policy server is down and IPS is not responding.

We are using a HA licence on this box, without it being in a HA configuration, it is just setup as a cold spare, which support say is potentially causing this issue, they believe it is looking for the HA member and services are failing.

Just wondering if this is something anyone else has come across and if there is a workaround?

-HA licenses are only valid in an HA configuration.
To confirm it's not a licensing issue, suggest applying an evaluation license to the appliance.

Support is probably correct there, sounds like that could be causing the issue. As @PhoneBoy mentioned, to be 100% sure its not license problem, just apply the eval and test. If it works, there is the answer.

Approach your local CP office representative about upgrading/converting the license if you wish to use it outside of a cluster.

Thanks for the response, unfortunately, applying a trial license does not seem to resolve the issue.
