Boot loop known issue in R81.20 JHF T89

Hi experts,

I read about boot loop issue in Important Notes for R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator.

It says it is observed happening in Maestro and Chassis environment with JHF T89 installed.

I am curious how this issue it triggered and what console log says, but I cannot test it as I do not have those appliance in hand.

If you share your experience associated with this, that would be appreciated.

I am also wondering if this issue is not likely to occur in security gateways like 3600 or 6400.

(is it safe to say it is not expected judging from the root cause, or no actual case reported while there might be certain chance of boot loop?)

In my mind, below would indicate it happens after few attempts (several as in probably at least 4 or 5).

In Maestro and Chassis environment, a boot loop may occur and after several boot attempts, the cluster member state is displayed as "detached" or "lost" in these scenarios:

After downgrading from R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 89 or higher to Take 14 or below.
After downgrading from R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 89 or higher to the GA (General Availability) version.

This issue is not relevant to regular appliances like 3600 or 6400 deployed as traditional security gateway / cluster.

R81.20 JHF T92 is recommended

What version take you have now installed and what was the previous installed take version?

If I read I see, since take 24 is almost ancient I don't expect many customers to have this issue.

To prevent this issue:

Install R81.20 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator Take 89 or higher only if you already installed Take 24 or higher.

Take 24

Released on 12 July 2023 and declared as Recommended on 24 July 2023

@Chris_Atkinson is 100% correct, not applicable to regular gateways, I actually confirmed this with TAC, just asked them this as a side question on unrelated note and they verified the same.

I apologize for the late reply, had to check it on the appliance by myself.

Two weeks of operation with Security Gateway R81.20 JHF T89 tells me what you legends told me.

Now I could safely say that this issue has nothing to do with regular gateways 😉
