Migrate Virtual System (VS) to another Domain / MDS

Hey guys,

We are currently managing 80+ Virtual Systems in a single SMS. We need to migrate these to separate domains on a new MDS.

Currently our plan is to:

Migrate export everything (sk167639)
Import everything into the MDS
Use python tool to export policy packages and import them into new individual domains
Move the VS's one at a time

Not sure if this will work but we want to avoid recreating everything from scratch, especially having to delete and recreate VSs.

Anybody ever have to do something like this?

The python script cannot recreate VSX objects (either gateways or VSes).
It will create them as placeholder objects.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to recreate the VS in the specific domain, but I'm not 100% certain of that.

I know this is "necro-posting" to an ancient thread, but if you accomplished your goal, would you be willing to share your results, just for the academics? I'm sure that was an interesting and complex project, with many lessons-learned! Just curious how it went, if for nothing more than the "case study" aspects.
