Hi, I have a 5100 Security appiance. I am going to attach one server on the management port.

Is it possible to install the Management Server OS and also the SmartConsole on that same server?

Or will I have to attach one more desktop to the management port?

Considering SmartConsole runs on Windows and the Management Server uses Gaia OS, no.

Highly recommend checking out or Check Point for Beginners series.

Hi,

That link refuses to open for me due to insufficient privileges.

However just one last question for this thread: Is it recommended to have the Management server on the local LAN network or should I keep it in a network of its own (on management port)

Hi, the permission issue should be fixed now.

Your management server can theoretically be on any port.
In larger environments it is often on a dedicated network.
