Agreed that the 3800 will probably be supported beyond R81.20, but it is the only Check Point appliance I know of that possesses the minimum 8 cores required for Hyperflow/pipelining, yet is not supported for Hyperflow in R81.20 and probably any future releases either due to CPU limitations.

HI,

Would anyone know if R81.20 would be the last supported upgradable version for 3800?

It was released in 2020.

I remember seeing a forum post / or KB stating that it would be the case, but I am no longer able to find it.

Any ideas?

This page shows the 3800 as the upgrade path for the 3200 so I doubt it will stop at R81.20 https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/support-life-cycle-policy/

Also, this page is a good reference: https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/support-life-cycle-policy/#appliances-support

Thanks, yes, I found those articles too.

There doesn't seem to be an EOL specified for them yet, but I did come across a forum post / or KB stating R81.20 will be the last one the 3800 supports.

Has anyone seen it too? I can't seem to find it anymore.

I don't see an issue. The appliance is not on the announcement list:

https://www.checkpoint.com/support-services/support-life-cycle-policy/

Also latest R81.20 can be installed:

https://support.checkpoint.com/results/sk/sk110052

If R81.20 is the last version cannot be stated now based on the information there is.

Also I cannot find a SK related to this question. And a forum post I would not always trust and refer to SK's first 😉

Never saw that, but: Still there is no successor product available - could come in 2024; i expect that the end of engineering / end of support dates will be fixed afterwards. At least R82 should be able to run on them 8)

It depends on a number of factors, with the primary one being when we announce End of Sale.
Outside of a specific technical issue, this is generally when the clock officially starts with respect to last supported version for a given appliance.
Which means it’s expected the 3800 will support R82 at least.
If you’re looking for a formal statement, reach out to your local Check Point SE.
