Hello,

I need a little help and clarification on this topic: What is an "Other" port type? What does it means, please?

On a 6200P appliance I was searching for any available interface.

I saw the interface state and configuration using cpview and "ethtool eth1-04" and the Port type is "OTHER", not twisted pair or FIBRE. The Field for "supported port" is blank.

Should I consider it available and working?

Where I can find more information about that state of the port?

Here below the output (a short version) and below the Gaia Versions:

cpview:

| Interface State Type Port Driver Speed
| lo On loopback N/A N/A N/A
| eth1 On ethernet TP igb N/A
| eth1-01 On ethernet FIBRE i40e 10G
| eth1-02 On ethernet FIBRE i40e 10G
| eth1-03 On ethernet FIBRE i40e 10G
| eth8 Off ethernet TP igb N/A
| eth1-04 Off ethernet OTHER i40e N/A

<LI-PRODUCT title="Security Gateways" id="Security-Gateways"></LI-PRODUCT>

ethtool eth1-04

Settings for eth1-04:
Supported ports: [ ]
Supported link modes: 1000baseX/Full
10000baseSR/Full
Supported pause frame use: Symmetric
Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
Supported FEC modes: Not reported
Advertised link modes: 1000baseX/Full
10000baseSR/Full
Advertised pause frame use: No
Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
Advertised FEC modes: Not reported
Speed: Unknown!
Duplex: Unknown!

My guess is there is no SFP plugged into the port (thus why it says OTHER).
The port also appears to be disabled.
In any case, it suggests it’s available to use.
