&lt;LI&gt;Backups can only be restored to the exact same appliance model (assuming we’re talking about a backup taken from Gaia WebUI or clish).&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Yes, you can connect your new gateway to your existing appliance.&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;/OL&gt;
&lt;P&gt;To elaborate more on the second point, most of the configuration is on the management.&lt;BR /&gt;The network interface, routes, etc configuration are part of Gaia OS, which can be replicated with the output of “show configuration” from the existing appliance and applied (possibly with some modification) to the new one.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;We are planning to migrate existing Checkpoint Gateway R80.40(5400) to New Checkpoint Gateway R81.10(6400)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Below are the list of question I have, please help us.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Currently, existing setup is in three tier architecture.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Whether existing checkpoint gateway configuration backup files will support to new checkpoint gateway or not?&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Can the new Checkpoint gateway sync with existing security management server or not?&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks &amp;amp; Regards&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;S Rajesh&lt;/P&gt;</description>
