Can you please specify the exact error you get?

I suspect the issue is in disk space at /var/log as you specified and in that case cleaning partitions won't solve it

Hi,

When trying to upgrade from R80.10 -> R80.40 via CPUSE (v2193 - latest), I am recieving an error around /var/log disk space issue.

I have checked /var/log and there is no large files there to delete.

Ive also checked snapshots, and I only have one.

Moreover, the system is saying there is 300GB available - so Im a bit perplexed.

Any assistance much appreciated.

D

This is a major upgrade that will create a new root partition with R80.40, while keeping R80.10 on the old partition to be able to step back to former working version after upgrade if anything goes wrong...

So maybe you have to delete the snapshot first...

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I shall remove the current snaphot - aside from that, are there any other hidden files within /var/log which might be contributing to the issues, which can be deleted i.e. core dumps or similar?

Ive had a browse through the folders but cant find anything jumping out.

Should be enough to make room for another snapshot !

Core dumps from kernel or user mode crashes are always visible in:

/var/log/dump/usermode/

/var/log/crash/

To list big files use:

find / -type f -size +100000 -exec ls -lh {} \; 2> /dev/null | awk '{ print $NF ": " $5 }' | sort -nk 2,2

This will display all files from greater then 10MB and sort them in a readable and understandable way.

Removed log files above 500mb and freed up approx 20GB from /var/log, and seems to have progressed ok.

Thanks all.
