Upgrading gateways from R80.20 to R80.40 and kernel versions

Hello,

Another upgrade question...

Our gateways are running R80.20 with the 2.6 kernel (2.6.18-92cpx86_64). In the Resolved Issues for R80,40 (sk160754) it lists:

"Upgrade is only supported between kernel 3.10 versions (R80.20 3.10 and R80.30 3.10)."

Does this mean that it is now possible to upgrade (not clean install) from R80.20 w/kernel 2.6 to R80.40 w/kernel 3.10? Or does this still require a clean install?

In place upgrade is supported of course

note that upgrade keeps the old file system - to move to new file system, you need advanced upgrade...

Btw new file system is mainly relevant to management

With the in place upgrade, does the kernel get upgraded from 2.6 to 3.10 version?

The kernel will get upgraded as part of the process.
There is no Linux 2.6 version of R80.40.
